Maybeth is a Tax Partner in BDO Northern Ireland. She joined the firm in September 1998 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2000, achieving 1st place in Ireland in her Final Admitting Exam.

Maybeth worked in general practice for 3 years before specialising in corporation and capital taxes planning. In 2003 Maybeth was awarded the Ian Walker Medal for the highest marks achieved in the General Taxation paper set by The Chartered Institute of Taxation, the UK professional body for Chartered Tax Advisers.  She became a Tax Partner in 2007.

Maybeth provides corporation tax compliance and consultancy advice alongside personal capital taxes and estate planning advice.  She believes in providing robust tax advice that is aligned to the commercial and other objectives of businesses and the individuals involved and delivering this in an understandable manner.  She advises on tax matters across all stages of the life cycle of a business, from tax-efficient structuring and restructuring to realising value from the business in a tax-efficient manner, both during the ownership period and on exit.

Maybeth works with clients across a broad spectrum of sectors including property, leisure and hospitality, manufacturing, health and social care, transport, professional services and agri-food services.  She has significant experience in providing advisory services to companies and their shareholders in many areas including succession planning, corporate reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions, property taxes and tax-efficient incentive planning.

Whilst her clients have various sizes and ownership structures, Maybeth’s focus is on advising Family Owned Businesses on the wide ranging and complex tax and financial issues that they face such as Succession Planning, Estate Planning and management of the family wealth including the use of various forms of Trusts.
