Location:UK - wide
Date: 4th October 2006
BDO Stoy Hayward motorbike fanatics Richard Morely and Barrie Smith embarked upon an impressive challenge recently to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. The duo visited all 16 of the firm’s UK business centres in less than 60 hours taking in offices in Baker Street, Chelmsford, Bromley, Epsom, Guilford, Southampton, Reading, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Belfast, St Albans and Hatfield and covering a total of 1323 miles! The pair have received commendable support from their friends and colleagues amongst BDO Stoy Hayward and have donated in excess of £3,000 directly to Macmillan Cancer Support in Northern Ireland to help improve the lives of people living with cancer, the final national figure will be matched by the firm.
Emma Rea, fundraising manager with Macmillan Cancer Support commented “I was really impressed when I heard about the challenge Barrie and Richard had set themselves in aid of our funds. It’s all very well coming up with such ideas, but actually pulling them off is quite another thing! I admire them hugely for taking on such a challenge and am pleased the boys were able to get out of the office and enjoy the open road on us! We could not provide the service we do without the support of the public and extend a huge thank you to Richard and Barrie and all at BDO Stoy Hayward”. Frank McCartan, Tax Partner with the Belfast office (and committed biker) joined the guys on the NI leg of their journey, taking in some of the best scenery Northern Ireland has to offer along the Antrim Coast.
