interview advice
Preparation is key to a successful interview. The interview will be competency based and your interviewer will be looking for behavioural evidence from your past that shows you are strong in certain competencies.
Following the tips below will assist you prior to and during the interview.
Before the interview
- Make sure you know where you are going and who you are meeting
- Leave yourself plenty of time. It is better to arrive early then late!
- Research is vital. Impress the interview panel by knowing key facts about the firm, the business area you’re applying to and the qualification route, as appropriate
- Review your application form before your interview. Your interviewer will be referring to this during your interview so it’s important you remember the information you provided to us
During the interview
- Be yourself! We want to know the real you. Relax and answer the questions as honestly as you can… and don’t forget to smile
- Speak clearly and concisely
- Listen to the question and make sure that your answers are relevant to the question being asked
- Do not answer in general terms, you should ensure that you focus on your role within the example you provide
- Think about the questions that you want to ask the interview panel. Remember, an interview is a two way process and you should also be making a decision as to whether you want to work for us
